The road bike is out of commission. The rear wheel is being dished. In the meantime, I wanted to ride my mountain bike. But, upon close inspection, the hub on the front wheel has broken on one of the spokes. I was able to temporarily true the wheel. I decided to try putting on a slick tire on the back and try it on Zwift. It worked like a charm. No problems at all. I also put my road pedals on the bike. The feel of the mountain bike is different. I can grip the handlebars with force. I could only go so fast as the gears would allow. I chose the Hilly London Loop. I was curious what the difference would be. I think the first lap was mostly adapting to the changed position on the bike. Also, a wider stance on the pedals. The first time up Box Hill was mostly around 3 watts per KG. That was as much as I could put in, and remain comfortable. I started to sweat as I was nearing the summit. I kept the tempo steady. No heroics. I made my way back down and into the city. That lap was around 33 minutes, I think. I was sufficiently warmed up. The second lap went quick. I made my way to the base of the climb and was ready to put in a better effort. I ended up putting in a negative split, nearing my PB for the month, by about 3 seconds. I was surprised, being that I was on a mountain bike. From there, I made my way back to the city, start / finish. Putting in a negative split on the lap. Shortly after, I commenced the cool-down phase. Concentration was good. I was happy to at least have something to ride on, while the road bike is being fixed. I was listening to music. Definitely lifted me up a bit. Balance and form was good. Ailments, I was sore in the right foot, as I was nearing the summit of Box Hill, on the last lap. I had to favor the left foot to compensate. Must have been the different position. Gear worked well, all things considered. The big / little gear was skipping on a few occasions. Nutrition was good. No hunger pains. I drank less than 1/4 of Gatorade, and a few sips of water. Other notes, there were about 1500 riders on this map.
