The weather is great. I couldn't let it go by. I was thinking about going to WS, but decided to head out to SS, instead. The legs felt good to start. I made my way up OTR and made it to the summit in good time. I pulled over to remove my arm warmers. Banducci was good. I didn't burn too many matches going up the Banducci wall. I was keeping a close eye on time. I also tried the virtual partner, on my Garmin GPS. The way it works is, you set the fictitious avatar to ride at a certain average speed. It will hold it there for the entire ride. It was set to 15 MPH. Which is about my average day, on this route. So, I was switching GPS screens to keep track. I made it to the summit. I pulled over to recoup and check the battery on the GoPro. It was at 60%. About where I wanted it. I headed downhill. Doing my tuck and reaching 40 MPH. The trek to SS went well. I was doing over 17 MPH, into the wind, most of the time. I made my way around the backside. In the meantime, I was doing the numbers in my mind. I made it to the tunnel in just over 1 hour. About what I calculated. The next time check would be Boss Hogs. I cruised my way through SS and back onto Banducci. The wind was mostly tail-cross. I calculated that, when I reach Pellisier, that I would be on equal time with the virtual partner. I was spot on. By about 1 minute ahead, or so. I kept my momentum going. I reached Boss Hogs in 1:20 and change. So, not much lost on that leg. I reached the last climb. Sparing no time to stop. The legs were feeling a bit more fatigue, but not too detracting. I had to pull over once, because my GoPro ran out of batteries. So, the battery swap took about 20 seconds or so. From there it was to the summit. No digs. I just kept the pedals turning and out of the saddle. (A nasty headwind going up that last kicker, hurts). From there it was recoup through the false flat. But keeping the tempo going. Route 202 was clear of traffic, so no worries there. From that point, it was mostly fun and games. I made it home in about 1:51-ish. About 2 minutes off the previous ride. Concentration was good, few lapses. I didn't have to coach too much. Balance and form was good. Ailments, some right knee soreness on the first half. Not to detracting. May have to check my cleats. Some quad soreness towards the end of the ride. Gear worked well. Still some mystery clicks. Nutrition was good. No hunger pains, till about the last 5 minutes, or so. I drank about 1/2 my Accelerade and a bit of water. Other notes, I saw about 5 cyclists today.
