Today was the coldest day yet. In the low 40's / upper 30's. Winds from the North West. I wore 2 base layers, jersey, Jacket, arms, legs, skull cap, face mask, double socks (should have been covers). I felt like a penguin. Covered with clothes. Suffice it to say, I was comfortable, for the most part. My legs were heavy to start. The added friction and weight of extra clothing compounded the fact. I did less than my usual average to Route 202. I wasn't really concerned about my time today. I just wanted to get the ride under my belt. I did moderate tempo up Banducci, including the wall. The 32T came in handy towards the steep sections. I cruised the downhill. Stopping at a turn out to let traffic by. My jacket was like a parachute. I don't think I went any faster than 35ish MPH. That didn't bother me though. Once I got to Pelliser, I had a cross tail. I was able to relax and get into a rythm. I did this for the entire farm section. The last climb was enjoyable. I was able to keep a moderate tempo for the duration of the ascent. No digs, just nice and steady. After reaching the summit, I knew I had it fairly easy to get home. Route 202 proved to be safe. I think there were no more than 2 cars that passed me. From that point on, it was fun and games. Although, OTR was shaded, my feet were getting real cold. Again, I should have worn shoe protection. Concentration was pretty good, considering. Yes. There were gremlins here and there, but nothing too detracting from my zone. Balance and form was unusual. Wearing so much clothing makes it difficult to gauge. I'd say it was average at best. Ailments consisted of some minor knee soreness at the start of the ride, but subsided as the ride went on. Gear is working well. No issues there. Other notes, no other cyclists out there. No surprise.
