Today was a bit colder than the last ride. Enough to wear arms and knees. My legs were a bit heavy at the start. But I warmed up pretty good by the time the descent started. There was a cyclist in front of me when I made the right turn onto WTR. He was about half a mile ahead, give or take a few hundred yards. Of course, my first thought was to bridge up to him before the descent. He appeared to be riding at a leisure pace, but I think that was the riser that he was riding on that gave his pace a false impression. Needless to say, I didn't bridge up to him. He turned around somewhere near the Loop Monument because as I was about to go up the second riser, I saw him going the other way on aero-bars. I cruised the downhill. I think I did average time. I was a bit cold making my way to Keene, but as soon as I turned around, the headwind became a tailwind and I started to heat up real quick. I ended up stopping at the Caesar Chavez entrance to take off my knees. After that, I commenced the ascent. I held no less than moderate tempo, pushing it to high tempo on a few occasions. My body felt great, no ailments. Concentration was right on and balance was good too. I think I gauged the climb to perfection. I put the right amount of effort on each section of the sign. I wasn't spent when I reached the summit, but I was fatigued just a bit. Gear is working flawless. People were posting reviews about the Dura-Ace chain, saying that it was quiet. Perhaps I forgot what the Ultegra chain sounded like, but this one is definitely silent. The bike continues to creak here and there, but likely negligible. Other notes, I had some fun on the last descent, just after summiting. Being that I had a tailwind, I was able to punch it up to 40mph. Very exhilarating indeed :D!!
