Today was a perfect day to go for a ride. I wore 1 base layer, shorts and short sleeves. I was perfectly comfortable for the entire ride. The wind conditions were a bit unusual. I had a tailwind on the way to the top of SS. Then, the wind shifted to a headwind after about 1/3 of the way down the descent. So, in the end, I had a tailwind for about 2/3rds of the climb and the remainder a headwind to the doorstep. My legs felt good out of the door. I was flying to the top of the descent. I made it to the top in under 7 1/2 minutes. It kind of reminded me of those pack rides that put you into the red zone while just barely holding on. I think the best part of the ride was leg balance. My legs were on top of the pedals the entire time, and they felt symmetrical. Concentration was very good as well. I was tightly focused and in the zone. I didn't have any notable ailments, just a bit of hand numbness that I could hardly feel. The usual exhaustion that's typical of this ride. Gear is working well. Bike is creaking, but not significant.
Other notes, I weighed in around 145lbs before the ride. Good to see my weight is stabilized. The little extra weight didn't feel like a hindrance. To me, this means that the added weight was the productive type and not much dead weight (ie, fat).
