It's been raining the past two days. Perfect for an indoor training session. I ended up riding the London (Box Hill) Loop. I had to force the map of choice. I think Innsbruck or NY was today's map of the day. There were about 30 people riding on this map. Somewhat lonely. Eventually there would be 100 people towards the end of my ride. As is always, the first 10 to 15 minutes is mostly a chore. I was sufficiently warmed up by the time I reached the first climb. I began modest, and picked up the tempo as the climb progressed. No red-lining it. Just stayed within my limit. I reached the summit in under 10 minutes. Took the climber's jersey because there were no other riders on this course. I let up a bit on the descent. Put in a good dig on the tunnel riser. I was keeping track of time. Estimating when I would be on the next lap. I completed the lap in about 31 minutes. so, I knew I would have ridden one hour by the second lap completion. The second lap felt better. The legs and lungs were warmed up. I could hold a higher tempo. The second and last climb was done at higher tempo. I reached the summit about 30 seconds faster than the previous lap. So a negative split. I headed back to town from there. Again, putting in a dig through the tunnel riser. I completed the last lap in about 30 minutes. Give or take. Making a negative split on that too. Concentration was good for the most part. The last half felt better. I had some new music to ride to, and that helped. Ailments... The right knee was sore on a few occasions. Right lower quad was a bit sore on the flats. Nothing to detracting, but noticeable. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked flawless. I setup a laptop with the projector for the folks to watch. Worked like a charm. Other notes... I wish there were more riders today. Kind of lonely out there. (A lot of Aussies joined as I was nearing completion).
