The weather has let up. It's now in the 60's. The wind was not favorable, but I decided on heading to Keene nonetheless. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. The descent was a treat with the tailwind and all. I put in two digs over the risers. I didn't bother to check the time when I reached the base of the ascent. I headed back without removing layers. The headwind wasn't exactly fierce, but made for a more difficult ascension. I kept the tempo steady. I took a while for my climbing legs to settle in. I felt better after making it through the lower part of the Loop. After that, I had shelter from the hill sides. I was concerned about my right knee. I adjusted the cleat a few days ago. I gave the heel out a bit more room. I think it helped. It was hinting on soreness on the upper and outer side of the knee. It was very mild and almost un-noticeable. The miles went quick after making it past the Loop Monument. Concentration was good for the most part. The morale felt good, I had some stuff to think about along the way. The music helped too. I had to turn down the volume for situation awareness. Balance and form felt pretty good. Ailments, mostly the left hand with numbness while out of the saddle. The right upper/outer knee was hinting on soreness, but never escalated and I was keeping tabs on it while practicing different positions and pedaling styles. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I drank most of my Gatorade. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, there were no visitors at the Loop Monument. The water truck was absent today (at least while I was down there).
