Today's weather was a tad cooler than the previous ride. In the mid 80's, winds from the north west. I wore the standard kit. My legs felt somewhat on the heavy side, but not so much. It took me average time to get warmed up. Circa, the end of OTR. I made it there in average time. I kept the pace nice and steady going over the Banducci wall, going good tempo over the top. Recovered on the false flat. Did the remainder of the climb with moderate to good tempo. The descent was fun and games, I reached 41MPH+ today. The wind wasn't too strong today, so the trek to SS was bearable. I kept the tempo between 17-19MPH till SS. The rear climb was modest. My legs were feeling heavy, so I decided to keep the tempo moderate and within myself. The descent was a good time to practice my tuck. My head was almost resting on the top of the bars. On one occasion, I bumped my chin slightly. It cause my teeth to close. I think I'll stay away from that position! I think I reached the tunnel around 1:22ish. I did good tempo going though SS. After exiting, I began the last trek moderate and increased a bit till Pelliser. From there I held good tempo for most of the flat lands to the last climb. I was feeling the heat at this time, I didn't have any ailments, but the heat exhaustion was setting in. I ended up climbing at a more modest tempo than usual. No redlining. And, a steady push over the top. The flat section was recovery time. I took a 30 second break at Route 202, letting the traffic by. Once that was done, I descended Route 202 and OTR, fun stuff. I took it easy over Mariposa. I came to a stop at the intersection to let traffic by. I decided no need to redline it. From there it was cruising back home. Concentration was good, I was in the zone for the majority of the ride. Ailments were mild. Some mild right knee soreness. The usual exhaustion from the heat. Balance and form felt good. Some areas were shady, favoring one leg over the other, but not too bad. Gear is working great, no issues. Other notes, no other cyclists today, and nothing new on the possible bike path to be on Banducci base.
